To show that black is a better collector of solar energy than white,  you can conduct an experiment.  What you need are 2 tin cans, black and white paint and a room thermometer.  The first step is to paint the cans-one black, one white.  Next, fill the cans wth water.  Then, put the cans in direct sunlight for three hours.  Finally, check the temperature of the water in the cans and compare.  You will find that the temperature of the water in the black can is higher.  It is an easy experiment and you can try it in your free time.
