 In my opinion, it is good to meet people through online dating sites.  One of my reasons is that we can meet people all over the world.  Through the Internet, we can get in touch with people from many different countries while in real life we are not able to meet and talk with foreigners.  In addition, people who are shy may feel easier to chat through the Internet because he/she doesn't need to be face to face with others.  Sometimes it's simpler to make friends on the Net since we don't have to get along with those we know through the Net actually.  And the last thing is that people who have the same interest can get together more easily on the Internet.  Online dating sites often divide their members into different categories according to their hobbies or jobs.  If we take advantage of these dating sites in a right way, it will be safe and interesting to meet people through online dating sites.

Best of the Semester-2

Michael Williams opened a small music store selling compact discs on September 5, but he soon closed his shop.  After reading its description, I think I know why Mr. Williams failed.  First of all, the location of his store was not good.  It was outside of town and unfortunately, there were two large music stores in the shopping center which is 3 miles away from it.  Most people would go to the shopping center and just buy CDs at those two large music stores instead of Mr. Williams’.  Another account was the type of the CDs he sold.  Most of them were hip-hop and rock, which were popular with young people.  However, the majority of the residents in this region were middle-aged or old.  In addition, the shop was opened Monday to Friday from 1 to 5 p.m., but the time when people would walk past the store was 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 12 a.m.  And that Mr. Williams would not accept checks or credit cards was also a problem.  Some of the customers might consider it inconvenient and decide not to buy CD if they didn’t have enough money on hand.  The statement above is my opinion on Mr. Williams’ failure in operating his music store and I feel sorry for him.

I decide to go to an English-speaking country, and this decision may have some effects on my life.  For one thing, I may encounter language obstacles and culture shock.  Though I have been learning English for a very long time, I still have many problems in listening, speaking and writing.  As a result, it may be difficult for me to communicate with others.  As for culture shock, there are a lot of differences between the East and the West, and therefore, it may take me a long time to be accustomed.  Moreover, I may get homesick.  After moving to a foreign country, I may soon feel like returning Taiwan if I can’t blend into the new environment.  In addition, I have to change my lifestyle.  It may be fun and I can enjoy different form of life.  Although I cannot predict how it would be like after I move to an English-speaking country, I’m still looking forward to it.

Acton is a small town in the Midwest.  It has a population of 2,500.  Now, Stanley Manufacturing decides to open a large factory in Acton.  As a resident in Acton, I think it may cause some negative results.  The first one is pollution.  The factory will lead to environmental pollution as it starts operating.  Water and air will be dirty.  Another problem is that the opening of the new factory will bring many new people to the community, and these people may make the town different.  Acton is a safe, clean, and quiet place, but the new migrators may make the town a noisy and bustling one.  Last but not least, as more and more people move into the small town, living space will be insufficient.  House price may rise rapidly and people may not have  enough money to buy a house.  Such is why I consider it bad that a big factory opens in Acton.
